Functional Medicine Health Coaching Graduation!

Hi everyone!

I’m so excited to announce that I’ll be graduating from the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy in four days from their year-length health coaching program! Starting on August 31st, I’ll be a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach.

The Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMCA) is well-regarded in the health coaching field. It has even been referred to as “the gold standard” in health coaching by the NBHWC and others, including Dr. Mark Hyman. FMCA is the only educational program that directly collaborates and designs their curriculum with IFM, the Institute for Functional Medicine. I learned from many of IFM’s prestigious providers during the year and a plethora of other experts. Along the way, I made some wonderful connections with my September 2021 cohort.

Some of us in our group have decided to start our own business, and I am among them. This website is still in beta-version mode (It just needs some finishing touches and to work out a few programming kinks!) but I’ll be posting my updates here. I’ll also be making a dedicated Facebook group with business updates and joining a few other forms of social media!

Functional Medicine is a root-cause approach to healthcare. FM providers focus on identifying the chronic stressors, triggers, and imbalances contributing to a person’s symptoms. They use many medical, diagnostic, written, and analytical tools to achieve this goal. The goal of Functional Medicine is to rectify imbalance through nutrition, movement, and lifestyle interventions.

These changes can be daunting and challenging for many. It’s hard to change sleep habits, eating patterns, and wellness routines, or to disrupt stressors, habits, and cycles. Functional Medicine health coaches work 1:1 with an individual to discover what their unique needs, desires, and goals are within the tapestry of their life’s journey. We can help you co-create action steps attainable for where you’re at when you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or hopeless. Take a step closer to your optimal self. Get plenty of support, educational resources, insights, troubleshooting, brainstorming, and encouragement along the way.

As an example, I’ve gotten the benefit of being a client in addition to being a coach while in the program. These sessions have helped me to identify deeply rooted mental and physical patterns holding back my progress in certain areas of life. Health Coaching can help you discover yourself more and give you a safe space to be who you are. Coaches meet you exactly where you are at, and help you process your thoughts and feelings. (Please note that we aren’t considered healthcare providers and we cannot diagnose, cure, or treat any disease).

I am extending the invitation starting in September to coach a few individuals at a discounted rate. In addition, I will be offering free 15-minute discovery consultations. Through these brief sessions, you can get a better sense of what health coaching is and if we might be a good mutual fit!  Anyone who is curious about health coaching is welcome to reach out to me.

Availability is limited. I am particularly enthusiastic about working with all types of people, especially marginalized peoples. People with chronic health and mental health conditions and those in the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities are encouraged to contact me.

Please contact me through my Facebook or Instagram social media if you are interested in booking a free 15-minute consultation with me! Starting on September 7th, I have select availability in the afternoons and evenings, PST.

Thanks for reading and co-celebrating this milestone in my life with me. I’m eager to hear your story.
